About

Repair guides without the guesswork.

Handiy exists because appliance problems are stressful and repair information is scattered, buried in forum threads, or locked behind service manuals written for technicians. We built a better way.

What we do

Handiy is a repair guidance platform. We give homeowners and property managers structured, step-by-step guides for diagnosing and fixing common household appliance problems — washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers, water heaters, HVAC systems, and more.

Our diagnostic tool helps you narrow down what’s wrong before you start. Our photo scan feature can identify error codes and model stickers from a photo. And once you know the issue, a full repair guide walks you through the fix.

We also offer a Pro Portal for property managers who need to track maintenance across multiple units — built for the people who manage other people’s appliances professionally.

How guides are made

Our guides are generated by AI — specifically Anthropic’s Claude models — using structured prompts designed to produce consistent, step-by-step repair instructions. We’re transparent about how this works and what its limitations are.

Why we think this works

Most repair searches end in a 10-year-old YouTube video, a forum thread where someone says “just replace the whole unit”, or a service manual in a format that assumes you already know what you’re doing. Handiy produces something different: a structured, clearly written guide scoped to the specific symptom you described.

We’re not claiming to replace professional repair technicians. For complex jobs, hire a professional. But for the millions of appliance problems that a capable homeowner can diagnose and fix themselves — a clogged drain pump, a worn door seal, a faulty thermostat — good information is all you need.

That’s what we’re here to provide.

Who we are

Handiy is an independent platform operated from Canada. We’re a small team building tools we’d want to use ourselves. We have no affiliation with any appliance manufacturer, parts supplier, or repair service chain.

We don’t run advertising. We don’t sell your data. We’re building a platform that earns trust by being genuinely useful.

If you have feedback, found an error in a guide, or just want to get in touch: contact us.
